Virtual Shovel

Virtual Shovel

Virtual shoveling is an exercise that mimics shoveling something heavy. It works your legs, core and back. This exercise involves a bar with a weight at one end, similar to a shovel. The goal is to lift the weighted end over an obstacle, lower it to the ground, and return it to the initial position.

Instructions

How to perform a Virtual Shovel:

Stand facing about 45 degrees to one side of the obstacle that you will be shoveling over. Place the weighted end of the bar to that side of the obstaclet and grasp the bar in a shovel-like grip. Your legs should be bent and slightly wider than shoulder width. Your front hand should be facing palm-up while the back hand should be palm-down.
