Step Up

Step ups are a weight training exercise for the lower body. In addition to adjusting the weight for this exercise, the step can be can raised or lowered to increase or decrease difficulty.

Instructions

How to perform a Step Up:

Stand facing a box. Hold the dumbbells in your hand.
  • Stand facing a box. Hold the dumbbells in your hand.

  • Place one foot on top of the box.

    Place one foot on top of the box.

  • Extend your knee and hip to stand up on top of the box.

    Extend your knee and hip to stand up on top of the box.

  • Place your other foot on the box, so you are standing straight up.

    Place your other foot on the box, so you are standing straight up.

  • Step backwards off the box with the foot that you placed on the box second.

    Step backwards off the box with the foot that you placed on the box second.

  • Step backwards with your first foot, returning to <1/position 1>.

    Step backwards with your first foot, returning to position 1.
