The sit up is a compound exercise targeting the abdominal muscles.

Instructions

How to perform a Sit Up:

Lie on your back on the floor with your legs bent at a 90 degree angle. Place your hands in front of your chest.
  • Lie on your back on the floor with your legs bent at a 90 degree angle. Place your hands in front of your chest.

    Lie on your back on the floor with your legs bent at a 90 degree angle. Place your hands in front of your chest.

  • Lift your upper body off the floor by contracting your abdominal muscles.

    Lift your upper body off the floor by contracting your abdominal muscles.

  • Continue lifting your upper body until you are sitting straight up.

    Continue lifting your upper body until you are sitting straight up.

  • Lower yourself down so you are back in <1/position 1>.

    Lower yourself down so you are back in position 1.
