Shrug

The shrug is an isolation exercise that works the upper shoulders and back. This exercise is mostly done with dumbbells but can also be done with a barbell.

Instructions

How to perform a Shrug:

Stand with your shoulders back and your legs approximately shoulder width apart. Grasp the dumbbells in each hand so that the weights are next to your body and your knuckles are facing out.

  • Lift your shoulders straight up so that they come up to the top of your neck, just like you are shrugging.

  • Lower your shoulders back down.

    Lower your shoulders back down.
